There are generally three classes of electric bikes or ebikes, which are classified based on the level of assistance provided by the electric motor:
Class 1 ebikes: These bikes are equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, and can only reach a top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h).
Class 2 ebikes: These bikes are equipped with a motor that can provide assistance up to a speed of 20 mph (32 km/h), even when the rider is not pedaling. Class 2 ebikes also have a throttle that can be used to activate the motor that will max out at 20 mph!
Class 3 ebikes: These bikes are equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, but the motor can assist up to a speed of 28 mph (45 km/h). Class 3 ebikes can come with a throttle. It’s important to note that most Class 3 ebikes do not come with a throttle. The 28 mph top speed is on pedal assist only. If an ebike is equipped with a throttle, it would max out at 20 mph.

The Ramblas is making single track and mountain biking in general fin fir this 58 yr old. The Ramblas fits me better than my old Trek Marlin (less hand a back fatigue). Instead of driving to the trail head, I can now bike from home, run the trail, and make it back home in one piece. I just love the power of this thing! My Ramblas "ain't got time for no snakes" ;)

Have had my Ramblas for over a week now. Love, love, love it!! Ok, that said. Have been running it daily in the mountains of Central City, CO. and it has not disappointed. It is a work horse. The battery Has plenty of reserves to last the day. I don't have to worry about it giving out and having to return early. It has plenty of power to ascend the most daunting hills as easy or aggressively as you'd like. The brakes are easy to apply without too much effort and sensitive enough to maintain control on descents. The tires are perfect for good control and bite in to the most aggressive surfaces. The 3 assist levels work great for whatever workout you may be looking for on any given day. Try one and you'll be hooked. Can't wait to give my old Soltara to my son.

After 30+ years of riding a variety of full-suspension mountain bikes, I finally decided to go electric with the Ramblas. I've been a fan of Aventon for a while and almost bought an Aventure last year, but when I heard they released their first eMTB, I was very interested. After watching a number of YouTube reviews of the Ramblas, I ordered mine directly from Aventon. It was super easy to assemble and i was riding same day. I've had the bike for a few months now and ridden about 300 miles all on dirt trails and singletracks. Here are my early impressions;
- The Ramblas is a super-high quality build and very well designed
- Components as top notch and the mid-drive motor is superb
- The display & app are simple to use and efficient
- While I like the hard-tail for climbing and often rode my full-suspension MTB with the rear shock locked out, I'll likely add a PNW suspension dropper post at some point for a little more cush on the trail
Overall, I love this bike and as I'm now in my mid-sixties, it allows me to ride further and go higher than I previously could have on my non-eMTB.
